Elio e le Storie Tese from the stage of Barolo (CN) have (MAYBE?) said goodbye to the scene with their last show of a career spanning 38 years, of which only 28 could be considered official high-quality discography among full live acts, studio CDs, and Unplugged: who knows, probably with this excuse they will come back for the next two New Year’s Eves, since in the meantime they have released (for promoecopublicity purposes) the single La Canzone Circolare, which the band has personally penned. The next one, whether it concerns Genoa and its events I cannot guarantee, but, who knows, a solo track by a Conforti (see below), I’d say yes.

Therefore, let’s talk about the concert: that festive event that on stage saw the participation of a very large number of guests (“It’s the first concert with more people on stage than in the audience,” Mr. Elio joked before the show), starting from the revived Piero Pelù to Cristina D’Avena passing by a Mariottidesco Maccio Capatonda. Among the other Hotes d'Honneur (unfortunately) The Kolors, (just because he’s from Milan) Fabio Rovazzi, and (look who’s back) Neri per Caso.

The lineup of songs gets its pass with ‘Servi della Gleba’ and ‘Burattino senza Fichi,’ in a concert with a vague taste of a maxi-semitragic and post-fatalist funeral, then with ‘La vendetta del fantasma formaggino’ the architect Mangoni made his grand entrance, a show within the show with his unlikely skits and the constant invitation to his (if it were true, I would go) personal Campovolo in 2021. They were followed by the super-medley composed of ‘Pippero-La visione-Vacanzalternativa-Urna-Discomusic-Born To Be Abramo’ which rightly invited everyone to dance, and the heartfelt dedication to the prematurely deceased Feiez who received more than one poignant remembrance; the whirl of guests took shape from Filippo Graziani with his ‘Monna Lisa,’ then Cristina D’Avena duets with Elio in ‘Piattaforma.’ Maccio Capatonda came to steal a smile with his ‘Assolo di Pianto,’ then there was the frenzy with Piero Pelù who, along with Eelst, embarked on a journey starting from Litfiba and reaching (believe it or not) the Queen. One of the most intense moments was experienced with the “reconciliation” with Rocco Tanica, moving in reproposing together with his band ‘Cara Ti Amo,’ ‘Il Circo Discutibile,’ ‘TVUMDB,’ and Shpalman performed alongside The Kolors. Geppi Cucciari and Rovazzi crowned Mangoni heir to Elio e le Storie Tese, then came Neri per Caso in ‘El Pube’ (vague dedication to Maradona?), Gaetano Scardicchio from Pitura Freska sings ‘Uomini col Borsello’ while Street Clerks (met for the occasion) take the stage to join Elio in ‘Parco Sempione.’ The concert’s finale was a crescendo of emotions: ‘La terra dei cachi,’ ‘Supergiovani,’ ‘Arrivedorci,’ and the concluding ‘Tapparella’ which draws the final curtain amidst tears and palpable emotion to the career of one of the most delightful and ingenious groups ever to appear on the Italian scene, although IMHO Vincere l'Odio would have been more suitable.
