Elio e le Storie Tese decided to delight our 2005 Christmas holidays by gifting us with a very amusing little compilation. Six winter-themed songs, six "secrezioni" high in humor, including one new song.
The CD was created in collaboration with Radio DJ, and members of the "Fave Club" could download it for free from the official Elio website. Many will remember the song "Caro 2000" from the album "Craccracricrecr"; here it is presented as "Babbo Natale 2000". The base is the same, but the protagonist is no longer 2000 but rather Santa Claus (although at some point, the 100,000 gifted by grandma makes an appearance). Following this track (which for a fan/collector is a real gem) comes "Fossi Christmas". The mechanism is the same; it's "Fossi Figo" without Morandi but with the DJs from "Radio DJ" who, along with Elio, change the lyrics to dedicate it to Baby Jesus [Baby, Baby, how are you born, ... I was never born, naked, in the cold and frost, let's hug tighter, in a heating system powered by cow's breath] and to Christmas in general. "Natale allo zenzero" is a very humorous song that talks about "Ginger" as perhaps an underestimated but necessary element in the Christmas spirit. After their (well-done) version of "Oh Happy Day", we move on to the unreleased track, "Baffo Natale." A song based on an 80s rhythm in which Elio plays the customer in a rush forced to buy a last-minute gift, and Jovanotti plays the shopkeeper who was part of Viaverdi. To conclude, the very famous and very funny "Christmas With the Yours" italo/english (Panettone is on the table) that everyone should listen to at least once in their lifetime.
What to say: as a Christmas gift to an Elio enthusiast, it would have been perfect.
