Eleni Karaindrou

Greek composer best known for film scores and her long-time collaboration with director Theo Angelopoulos; has recorded for ECM New Series.

Studied piano and studied ethnomusicology in Paris. Founded a laboratory for the study of traditional ethnic instruments upon returning to Greece. Has worked with orchestras such as the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester. Frequent composer for Theo Angelopoulos (including The Suspended Step Of The Stork, Ulysses' Gaze, Eternity And A Day, The Weeping Meadow).
