LA RECENSIONE

In short, Wayne calls Steven.

“Listen here, old man, are you familiar with John McLaughlin playing with some psycho-prog kids while they smoke drugs?”

“But do you really need the drugs, are you sure?”

“Absolutely, without drugs and electric sperm, it’s a no-go. Okay... listen, are you playing the drums? Like the old days, come on.”

“Yeah, yeah.”

“Alright, I’ll play the bass then. Call those crazies from Nashville, what are they called...”

“Who, the Linear Downfall?”

“Yeah, those guys,  they might come in handy. Well... and the MGMT kids? Christ, they won’t leave me alone for a minute, always asking to play together... oh... and don’t forget that madman Daniel Huffman ok?”

“Old pal... already called him, don’t worry!”

“Who’s handling production, still Uncle Dave?”

“Yeah yeah, for now, there’s no one better.”

“Alright, done then, awesome... we’re playing again!”

“Mm...”

“Bye beautiful, let’s keep updated!”

“Mm... bye.”

Side project of the Flaming Lips, it seems they had too much stuff, between jams and sessions tied to reimagining legendary albums from the past (yeah, whole albums), and somehow this material had to see the light of day.

Definitely more electronic and straightforward compared to the Lips’ work, repetitive rhythmic lines and straight bass, but it’s reasonable to expect that the next album might also head in this direction.

Inside, you’ll find the usual lysergic guitar riffs, like the psycho-groove ride "Transform!!!", sung by Drozd, lots of electronic sounds, like in the amazing "Futuristic Hallucination", and the cover of "Heart of the Sunrise" by Yes, to whom the second part of the group's name, Würms, is dedicated, a guitar section by Steve Howe (from "The Yes Album", 1971).

This "Musica difficile da twerkare" is also released by Bella Union.

After hearing them play with Miley Cyrus  here and here (with Moby in the role of an evil wizard)... you can really expect anything from the future.

It must have gone something like this, I’m sure.
