The Profile

Eiffel 65 are an Italian eurodance group formed in 1997 in Turin by Jeffrey Jey, Maurizio “Maury” Lobina, and Gabry Ponte at Bliss Corporation. They achieved worldwide success with the single Blue (Da Ba Dee) and the album Europop, followed by Contact! (2001) and the Italian‑language Eiffel 65 (2003). The group split in 2005 and reformed in 2010.

Italian eurodance trio from Turin (Piedmont); members: Jeffrey Jey, Maurizio “Maury” Lobina, Gabry Ponte; associated with Bliss Corporation; known globally for Blue (Da Ba Dee) and the debut album Europop; later released Contact! and an Italian‑language self‑titled album; original run 1997–2005, reformed from 2010.

Three DeBaser reviews spar over Eiffel 65: one scathing takedown of Blue (Da Ba Dee), and two spirited defenses praising Contact! and the Italian self‑titled for energy and craft. Themes include eurodance credibility, promotion misfires, and Italian pop culture. Overall tone: heated but lively.
