Well awakened on EDOARDO SMERDATO. Fresh as a daisy after Benni's concert in Pistoia (where he also announced an upcoming new album set for release in October), let's continue to see who occupies the position just below the podium: Edoardo Bennato - 'O Sarracino

There are no excuses this time: singing O sarracino in reggae sauce is at least profane in itself, and if you sing Neapolitan like a Piedmontese would speak German (accompanied by someone who sings/rapps in a somewhat disconcerting English), the result can only be atrocious. The excuse that Bennato doesn't know how to sing in Neapolitan doesn't even hold up; he made an entire album in Neapolitan that was, by the way, fantastic. Once again, let's tag @[fabriziozizzi] @[Ditta] and at this point even [Iside], who is sorely missed.

Let's return to EDOARDO SMERDATO, or 12 inconceivable songs from Benni. In 5th place, we find not one but two songs. One is the title track from the masterpiece SBANDATOH, while the other is the title track from the slightly more acceptable Le vie del rock sono infinite.

Aside from the fact that both are rather ugly, they also share a very similar chorus... not to mention it’s the same recycled melody from Sbandato in Le vie del rock (in fact, the chorus of Le vie del rock is ten times worse). Let's call them the twins of self-plagiarism.

Happy Saturday debasici and welcome back to EDOARDO SMERDATO, or 12 pieces from our dear cousin Edoardone that should be completely uprooted. The second half of this ranking starts with a song that just missed making it to the top 5, taken from an album with good intentions and poor outcomes called Le ragazze fanno grandi sogni. I’m talking about Afferrare Una Stella Most of the tracks from that album were anything but successful (even with the best intentions), and with this song, we hit rock bottom: lyrics featuring one cliché rhyme after another, a background made up of bland folk music, and choruses just filling in the gaps. Ovo, since we have the usual tags @[fabriziozizzi] @[Ditta] @[dsalva] and since @[Farnaby] also appears, let’s go!

Sbarbuti and sbarbuti, welcome back in record time to EDOARDO SMERDATO. Here we are, we’ve reached the end of the first part of this ranking. And now we present the seventh place: Fantasia taken from the masterwork Sbandato. Bennato can no longer be controlled and abuses the corpse of the young Peter Pan he once sang about (in a decidedly less crappy way). A rock piece with orchestrations because, yes, in a totally haphazard manner. Obviously the usual tags from the cheerful olive @[fabriziozizzi], @[Ditta], and the gentleman "from Emilia with fury" @[dsalva].

Good morning to all the male audience. Welcome back to EDOARDO SMERDATO, or those 12 songs that our Edone should have flushed down the toilet. And so, without further ado, in eighth place we find: La Mia Città

Released as a single in 2011, this piece manages to bring Edoardo Bennato to the same level as Biagio Antonacci, without any lubricant or vomit bags to soften the impact. And with the usual morning annoyances, I invoke the @[Ditta], the lord @[Farnaby], the big oak @[fabriziozzizzi], and the demigod @[Iside]. And with this, I close the line here.
