Alva Noto has had ups and downs in his career, along with some decidedly unnecessary works.
From the few tracks I've had the chance to listen to, this new "Xerrox Vol.4" seems to fall into the category of inspired works, but it's hard to judge a project with only 3 tracks heard. I hope I'm not wrong because when our man hits the mark, he delivers true gems.

Among my albums of the year, sweet simple melodies on the wings of dreams suddenly turn into nightmares. Frankly, I wouldn’t know how to define this work; it’s better left to those who listen to it, or it should not simply be defined, remaining a vague matter like dreams, even in memories. Definitely a dreamy work.

I love to listen in solitude, with headphones because the external sound interferes, trying to catch the sound that keeps the rhythm, with my feet feeling the whole sound system, in search of the alien melody that can only be found after repeated listens. Here lies the charm that many ears reject, not defining it as music, a definition perhaps well accepted by the composer.
Anyway, if I'm not mistaken, we are in 2008 and I haven't listened to the album in a while Ryoji Ikeda - Test Pattern #1101 - 2008

I haven't seen the film, but if it's as evocative as the soundtrack, it should be a must-see movie. "The Revenant" features a soundtrack curated by Sakamoto and Alva Noto, long-time collaborators. Suggestion is the key word for the musical notes that move through the images. The centerpiece "The Revenant" is by Sakamoto; I haven't heard the entire work yet, but I could suggest it to @[luludia], who lately seems to be peeking through gossamer sounds, or to seasoned traveler @cosmicjoker, just to see what effect it has.
