Rino Gaetano

Not a phenomenon, not a genius, but certainly a strong and innovative presence in the Italian singer-songwriter scene of the '70s. He managed to wisely inject a splash of reggae into his tracks as well. The lyrics have aged somewhat unpleasantly over the decades, but "Mio fratello è figlio unico" and "Aida" ('76-'77) remain two essential albums.
