Sorry elected, it's true that there is an abyss between Britney's albums and Made in Heaven, but there is the same abyss between "Made in Heaven" and, for example, a "Laughing Stock" by Talk Talk... the fact is that in a rating from 1 to 5, inevitably, the nuances that might exist in a rating from 1 to 100 are missing...

I completely disagree; for me, the best two albums by Queen are Queen II and especially Sheer Heart Attack. Innuendo is enjoyable but not a masterpiece, and this "Made in Heaven" is a mediocre collection of more or less unreleased material.

But if someone expresses an opinion about a certain album, how on earth can it be compared to a personal offense, to the point of telling that user to go to hell? It often happens that an album is criticized and right after, one gets attacked by people who take it as a personal insult... oh well...

Well, it's not enough that it has been copied to make a piece a masterpiece. For example, the instrumental "Amen Brother" by the Winstons has a drum break in the middle that has been reused in thousands of hip-hop, rap, electronic, drum & bass tracks, but that doesn't make it a masterpiece, quite the opposite!

"These are songs meant to change your life. I'm not joking." ...they didn't change mine at all, absolutely nothing special.

Sorry blackdog, "Higher Ground" is a piece with a great groove, played and sung very well, absolutely enjoyable and with intelligent lyrics. However, I can't see it as a masterpiece...

Hymnen, it's not that you have to give the minimum rating just because there are more experimental records... this is a beautiful masterpiece, damn it! How the hell can you give it a 1?!?! When I see certain ridiculous ratings handed out randomly, it makes my balls drop to the ground...

@Imasoulman, I definitely believe there will come a time to delve into this area as well (for the moment, I've listened to Otis Redding, a bit of Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, etc.)... but honestly, I find it a static genre... and by static, I’m not disparaging it, for heaven's sake, I'm just saying that in my opinion, soul belongs to that group of so-called "standardized" genres, just like blues, funk, and rhythm & blues. Genres that, although they can bring great satisfaction to their enthusiasts, in my personal opinion, which I don’t claim to be the ultimate truth, do not have the same expressive potential as, for example, folk, jazz, or rock songwriting, of which illustrious examples are mentioned by J&R. I’m absolutely aware that I might be mistaken due to my limited knowledge in the field, but that’s how I feel at the moment. I listened to "Innervisions" precisely because everyone cites it as the pinnacle of Soul, but I wasn’t impressed...
