I agree with the praise for Folli, an inhuman voice. As far as I'm concerned, this is one of their best works. Musically divine. "Il mistero dei bulli" is in the old Elio style because it's an old piece they've brought back. "Vacanza alternativa" for me is pure oxygen, Faso and Meyer are orgasmic. The final solos in "Bomba intelligente" by Cesareo and Pagani are sensational.

Great bunker film full of tension featuring a fantastic John Goodman. Noteworthy is the use of the soundtrack and the ambient sound effects. Too bad that in the last fifteen minutes it turns into something completely different, leaving the door open for one or more sequels, of which I'm not sure what nature...

In "There Was a Chinese in a Coma," Verdone effectively borrows the idea from this beautiful, nostalgic film, featuring wonderfully characterized characters and notable funny moments like the over-the-top outburst from the mobster's mother, with her caricatured Italian gestures, the excellent lines from Danny Rose "he's a serious guy... he only cheats with one person at a time," or the shooting scene with helium that wouldn't look out of place as a gag in "Police Squad!" I wouldn't rank it among Allen's best, but overall, we could use more comedies like this.

I’ll start with the pros: the enchanting photography that almost physically conveys a sense of cold; the character of the mayor, who embodies the filthy, immoral, and corrupt politician; the ending is also excellent in all its cruel hopelessness… however, overall the development felt rather heavy to me, even in the choices of the plot. A sort of Russian "Calvary" but without the brilliance and the sense of humor… honestly, I don’t see the masterpiece that everyone else sees.. in 2014 imho there’s better.

I agree with those who gave it two stars; this film, while technically flawless, provokes an endless series of "who cares" from scene to scene, with unnecessary supporting characters like Maradona, Miss Universe, the levitating monk, the mountaineer, the masseuse, the old couple that doesn't talk to each other... a collection of oddities piled up without reason. I find the basic story uninteresting and poorly developed, the postcard landscapes feel sterile, and the dialogues, stuffed with aphorisms, sometimes fall into the ridiculous; not even Kozelek, whom I adore, saves the film. For me, it’s a clear step back from La Grande Bellezza. After watching the three Italian films presented at Cannes, I can't blame the Coens for not awarding them. The only one of the trio that might have some redeeming qualities is Garrone, even though it’s clear he wasn’t comfortable directing that kind of film.

What a laugh with this debut from Allen! The scenes with the broken glasses, the double bass with the chair, the soap gun.... then the director bursting into the bank (xD) and so many others. A little gem of comedy, even though the best in terms of direction will come later.

My comment on the movie: WTF??? The first hour is still manageable, but after that? Two hours of chaos with no meaning at all. And I love pretty much everything Lynch has done... I was left speechless. I'll try to watch it again in a few years, you never know.
