Nineteenth review for a single album!! RECORD!!! RECORD!!!

"The central part of the piece is almost entirely improvised, even though it's very well thought out," so let's agree, either it's improvised or it's studied. These guys in the records meticulously prepare every single note, so there's not even a hint of improvisation.

Sure, the neo-prog groups after listening to Genesis have really been left in the middle... it's an obsession. An entire genre made up of bands that essentially cover a single band, and in a way that isn’t even that original. I already have in mind what kind of album this will be, just like 99% of things from Insideout: handcrafted music, made of repetitions of canonical elements of so-called prog, which in doing so is reduced to a caricature of itself. The purest sense of progressive is forgotten to exalt its surroundings, the form, a sterile wrapper of what was once original music.

It's the 14th on Images&Words! One was enough and more.

The opening title track has a chorus that is a distilled version of a Coldplay ballad, which is certainly not a positive thing in terms of my tastes. "A Last Dance" is definitely a better piece, at least in the verse, while the chorus sounds like a song from the Weakerthans. "Storm Clouds" has a rather predictable melody reminiscent of certain Porcupine Tree ballads...the verse of "Signs" is clearly "Helpless" by Neil Young. Otherwise, there are a few good ideas here and there ("Portugal" and "Dreaming"), an album that is certainly listenable but doesn't remotely deserve the 5 stars in my opinion.

But is it true that "Rolling Stone" made it the album of the month? I thought that magazine only dealt with gossip and nonsense... oh well...

I simply said that I find the first part the most inspired and original, the one that struck me the most and the one that, in my opinion, has the greatest psychedelic potential, while the rest does not fit and is on another level. So, according to my taste, it would have been more suitable to release that first part as a standalone album, which would have garnered 5 stars, considering that I find the overall 100 minutes a bit dispersive, lowering my overall rating to 4.
