Oh sorry, in "Officer and a Gentleman" (1983) they say Texas and in "Full Metal Jacket" (1987), Oklahoma.

Texas may not be a great place for the people who live there and for its rulers (even though it's only been a Republican stronghold since the '80s), but from a naturalistic perspective, it's nothing short of wonderful. At least from that standpoint, it’s a bit more than “a nice place.”

I can agree that Fu Manchu increase the "stoned" vibe, but not Clutch.

Yes, let's say that hard bop in its '60s phase did "evolve" from tonal to modal. Anyway, I confirm the praises for Bill Evans, "Undercurrent" with Jim Hall is wonderful.

I take my hat off to someone who has created 2 Hard Bop masterpieces (Empyrean Isles and Maiden Voyage), 3 Jazz-Fusion masterpieces (Mwandishi, Crossings, and Sextant), and 2 Funk-Jazz masterpieces (Head Hunters and Thrust), not to mention another ten excellent albums.

I don't agree, I really like this record, especially side A which is very enjoyable with several classics... it's clear that it needs to be contextualized in 1964, a year when rock had not yet been fully accepted as an art form.

I can still consider the Fu Manchu in the "stoner" genre for their somewhat dusty sounds, but I just can't fit the Clutch into that realm; they're simply hard rock and pretty basic as well.
