Porcupine Tree, while being one of my favorite bands, haven't innovated anything; they've simply reworked ideas already heard in certain psychedelia from previous decades. But I certainly don’t hold that against them, because they do it wonderfully.

If you want to know my opinion, for me neither of the 2 groups can be considered pretentious; in fact... to me they both make good quality music, although in totally different genres and with very different characteristics. Personally, I prefer I Porcupine, but those are my personal tastes that do not affect the quality of PJ or other great bands like the ones I mentioned in a previous post...

Bjork, perhaps you didn't understand that I like both Porcupine Tree and Pearl Jam; I don't listen to one genre and blindly exclude everything else. The discussion is not about comparing these bands.

It is absolutely not true; who put it in your head that they want to propose something new? In fact, they know very well that they are doing nothing more than a rehash of things already heard, just like the Porcupine Tree, a great band, but even they reinterpret things already heard in the past.

Ligabue, Vasco, and Oasis don't do Rock but Pop/Rock... The Pearl Jam play rock and are absolutely not pretentious; on what basis do you say they are?
