excellent until "Jurassic Shift," then the decline

Discs like this are so unique and special that everything you listen to right after seems trivial and superfluous... there are no words, just listen to it...
The Beatles Anthology 1
Voto:
The Anthology are not at all collections, as has been stated by several individuals on this page, but excellent archival material of recording sessions, live performances, etc... all unreleased. I usually snub so-called "Archival Releases," but here one must make an exception and take off one's hat in front of certain gems that have resurfaced.
Herbie Hancock Empyrean Isles
Voto:
Superlative review for an excellent work by the great Hancock. Besides the usual incredible performance by Herbie and the already mentioned superhuman drumming of Williams, I would like to highlight Carter's original interpretation on bass in "Oliloqui Valley" and in the majestic and disorienting "The Egg."

I limit myself to their discography (fantastic) that spans from 1974 to 1981 + the triple live "Rush in Rio" from 2003. This cover EP is enjoyable and played beautifully, but it remains just a little diversion of little value...
The Jim Carroll Band Catholic Boy
Voto:
An album with an overwhelming rhythm, featuring gritty guitars and top-notch lyrics. I reiterate, 10 tracks each more exciting than the last and an incredible frontman. I truly don’t know what more to ask from a record of this kind.
The Jam Sound Affects
Voto:
truly a magnificent album...in 1980, among this, "Remain in Light," "Closer," "Killing Joke," "Crazy Rhythms," "In the Flat Field," "Catholic Boy," and "Jeopardy," there was seriously a lot to savor, the last great year of the '70s (even though we were officially in the '80s); in my opinion, we would have to wait until '89 to see another interesting rock scene (with numerous exceptions, of course). The 3 golden eras of rock: 1. 1967-1972; 2. 1977-1980; 3. 1989-1994.

I would like to add a word that I see is missing both in the review and in the comments: "Corduroy." A legendary track that I’m very fond of since my old band used to play it quite often at the beginning of rehearsals to warm up... what a joy, guys. 5 just for the memories.
Tobe Hooper The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Voto:
pure madness, the slasher with a capital S, the father of all violent nightmares
Primus Green Naugahyde
Voto:
Unimaginable performance by Les on bass, truly overwhelming. And who cares if the mix highlights it too much, if it doesn’t highlight him, I don’t know who else :D (not that Lane and LaLonde are any less, eh). Really interesting album, but I’ll wait to rate it; it needs further listens.
