I'll give you an example: Maiden Voyage by Hancock... I love it instrumentally and because it makes me imagine landscapes or memories... but it doesn't convey an exact state of mind of the artist except in a few moments, and certainly not with the intensity of, for example, Spiderland.

it's not a prejudice because I've listened to jazz: Ayler, Mingus, Corea, Dexter Gordon, Ellington, Grant Green, Joe Henderson, the great Keith Jarrett, Larry Young, Miles Davis, Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Sonny Rollins, Wayne Shorter, and my favorite Herbie Hancock.. so I'm not exactly short on jazz..
