Indeed, the tones of the album blend quite well with the urban setting and the gloomy atmosphere you create in this little story... this "No One Can Ever Know" is a rather interesting proposal, although it is shamelessly derivative. Without mentioning, as you did, those two sacred monsters, it rather reminds me of a more refined and depressed Editors... ps: I can't hear the singer's accent!

"Slug Bait" brushes against the nightmarish levels of "Frankie Teardrop."

Am I the only one that feels a nice touch of Comus in this album? Anyway, it seems much more interesting than the usual slop offered by Wilson in his highly praised solo work. Oh, by the way, "Damnation" is, in my opinion, Akerfeldt's most successful work.

historic album, "Gelati" and "Freezer" are the best tracks

At first listen, it seemed very stimulating, even original, as well as brilliant for the musicians' technique... I tried to take it in with various listens... unfortunately, the result was negative; over time it left me with only coldness and dullness, and it's hard to understand where they want to go. However, it is by no means a bad album.

I definitely prefer "Coffee & Cigarettes" (which contains true gems) with its glimpses of life that are already more interesting and stimulating; here, however, everything drags on in total desolation and apathy.

"Mark Harris on piano, Tony Walmsley is the bass player, Franco Del Prete on drums and James at the saxophone..."
Aerosmith Live Bootleg

it may not be perfect but it's visceral and authentic, zero overdubs, just hard visceral and raw blues
Spike Jonze Adaptation (Il Ladro Di Orchidee)

Seen last night, it left a great impression on me. I would advise users from the first comments to set aside their prejudices for a moment and enjoy this film without too many expectations. Very well-drawn characters, especially the paranoid and self-pitying protagonist.
