It's noted here, but from what you say, it’s clear that Barrett was expelled because he had a more liberated madness... it's not exactly like that, or rather this more liberated madness was incredibly accentuated with LSD, which remains the primary cause of Barrett's departure.

Sanjuro, but where the hell did I say it was a negative thing? I only said he was kicked out for that... of course, his genius was a good thing no matter how it was expressed; it’s just that Pink Floyd couldn’t just admire Barrett while he was at his best in both his madness and his reasoning, they also had to make records and perform live, and that’s why Barrett was kicked out; it was impossible to continue, in short. As for Barrett, he did what he did precisely because he was a genius, and as often happens to geniuses, they are misunderstood... you always twist things, huh? That post wasn’t directed at you, insipid generalizer.

Again? Just because they have lost it compared to the period with Barrett doesn't mean they didn't have it afterward. I'm the one closing it here if you don't mind.

Barrett was removed because, despite having his brilliant and creative lucid moments, he was too consumed by LSD and over time he became a burden for the band: he didn't show up for rehearsals, he played the same song with a constantly different tempo and the others couldn't keep up with him, he played live with a guitar even if it had no strings, and so on. If you had met him in '79, I think you would have encountered a sad, closed-off person, but far from drug addiction.

yes waties but in my opinion they know the Floyd well, and they probably listen to them too..maybe to find a hair and turn it into a fur coat..or maybe because deep down they like them!

or rather: Genesis were better with Gabriel (in this case, however, there is reason to criticize them)

But please stop it! They may have lost effectiveness and genius compared to the period with Barrett, but they've chewed over the lesson well. I repeat, the criticisms of Pink Floyd shouldn't be made by saying they were better with Barrett! What’s the point? Genesis were better with Gabriel (this can be justified, though).

In short, the merit of the Residents is that "they introduced the recording studio as the main instrument for tragedy, for the desacralizing spirit," while the demerit of the Pink Floyd is having flooded music stores???

Moreover, I completely disagree with his previous speech: did punk need to arrive for Waters to express his angers? Did war need to come to realize that fascism would ruin us? There is protest and there is protest, some with style and some raw—what does he want to teach me? To generalize??

But when did I say they drew from metal? If she tells me that Yes drew from the most extreme hard rock, I would say that more than Yes, there were Rush and Kansas (just to mention the most famous ones).
