But there wasn't any high-level rock during that time, and even if there had been, it would be little and anyway I'm not interested. There was something metal, but I just want to tell you that the rock I listen to is from a completely different era and style, above all.

Who talked about grunge? To me, it sounds too much like overly sentimental, I don't like their music at all, just like I don't like grunge and a good part of punk; if you tell me they play rock, to me rock is something else entirely. At this point, rap is better. My ears make me realize the uselessness of this music, I'm sorry for you but that's how I see it.

I tell you: I give a 2 to Mars Volta, because at least they don't make me want to take the record off while I'm listening to them, whereas Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and the like will always get a 1 from me.

I don't doubt its value, but that little bit of it that I've heard made my milk curdle :-)

Yes, but the ratings go from 1 to 5 and for me an Apicella album is worth less than 0 while one by Pearl Jam is worth less than 2. I gave a 2, just to make an example, to Mars Volta. It's not like the ratings go from 1 to 1000, so it's inevitable that totally incomparable albums will end up with the same score; that's how I see it. In my opinion, after '77 there are fewer good things compared to the less good ones, and for me, Pearl Jam are among the less good things.

No way, we really can’t... comparing them to the Rolling Stones... let's leave it at that.

@mariaelena: sorry, but who would I have gotten angry with? Here I only expressed my opinion; why would I be stubborn? Shall we continue??? @larrok: but where did I write that I'm against everything that came after '77? I only said that since that year, there are more forgettable things than non-forgettable ones. And from the groups you mentioned, many I like quite a bit, like Porcupine Tree and Opeth, which are currently the best out there in my opinion. Among those you cite, I also really like Eno, Spock's Beard, Tool, Buckley, Pain of Salvation, but not Pearl Jam—I listened to them carefully, just like many others you named, and they just don't resonate with me at all. I repeat, in my opinion, Pearl Jam deserves a 1.

If I don't like it, I give it the rating I think is right. Madonna is even 1. The Finley are -1. I don't know the lyrics well, the music doesn't appeal to me at all. Sorry, but that's just taste.
