@Panapp: thank you for the clarification. Of course, beheading someone is no joke; it takes an immense amount of strength and it definitely doesn't happen on the first try (as we see in the movies)... so I’m not sure how much seppuku could actually be less painful than harakiri. Sorry for the macabre digression, but it still has its charm ;) (with the utmost respect for Mishima).

...but wasn't it harakiri? I might be wrong since I'm not familiar with Japanese culture (unfortunately). Anyway, it seems to me that Mishima committed suicide in protest against the demilitarization of his country, as the author supported nationalist and strongly traditionalist ideas. I haven't read this but Confessions of a Mask is beyond words...

But how many albums has this man made??? By the way, the latest Mars Volta is supposed to be released these days...

Dylan is one of the greatest, in my opinion. And I agree with the last three adjectives in Primiballi's review: those are precisely the characteristics that indicate great artists.

I apologize for interrupting: if pondering beauty, art, love, friendship, and justice is merely "Platonic nonsense," then I truly don't know what is worthy of investigation. Plato and ancient philosophical currents sought to question universal themes, and it's no coincidence that all of those I've listed (and more) are topics addressed by anyone throughout history. Plato approached these subjects from his point of view, which, of course, one doesn't necessarily have to agree with, but at the very least, should show a minimum of respect, just like for Kant, Joyce, or any other ancient, modern, or contemporary author. Moreover, let's set aside the false pompous doctors who revel in their own erudition (and on this, I agree with Franci) and try to approach these texts in a free and spontaneous manner, striving to understand the meaning of their words... only then does the classic avoid becoming a piece of plastic, but instead revives each time through our reading.

You say everything in a few lines, and above all, you've piqued my curiosity. The rec is anything but tedious.

These works are among the most contemporary ideas that human thought has produced. For me, they are invaluable (but that's just a "my problem" ;))

I'm downloading more than a few things; I've listened to Signal to Noise and Storm Season, what do you think of these two albums?

I like how you write: all the terms related to the album and the kind of imagery this music evokes... and you spark a lot of curiosity. We will look for.
