After three listens, you can more or less remember the tracks from The New Black; for those from the other albums, you need more listens...

@ seifer almasy: frankly, SYL have always had a sense of irony in EVERY one of their albums, but perhaps with a greater dose in this latest one, the new black, even if there are songs focused primarily on various reflections and not ironic (wrong side, antiproduct, decimator, or the title track).....the ironic and more cynical/reflective side have always coexisted, even in City. Among the last three, I prefer Alien, which I truly believe is the most contaminated, eclectic, and disorienting; the new black is much catchier and the most metal-oriented, with tight rhythms; the madness is much more reduced and subdued, allowing more space for guitars that create many melodies, at the expense of the synths and keyboards that created a very particular atmosphere of cold futurism......these are some of my impressions, I believe.

@ sfascia: it's a shame this group doesn't attract you; it's probably one of the most interesting "metal" (the quotes are necessary) groups of recent times, true innovators. If I can give you a piece of advice, start with Alien or even this latest one, and then move on to City and the rest, so the listening experience will be more or less bearable ;)

I apologize for any mistakes and for the somewhat… unusual review, but I really like strapping and didn’t want to give a cold and overly analytical description of the tracks and the album. Sorry for my silliness.
Après La Classe Live @ Mad in Salento - Lecce 03/06/'06

Na.....I saw them last night in Carpignano Salentino, it will be the third time I hear them live but I’m still thrilled. It's just that in the last few years, they’ve lost a lot of their sincerity and freshness from their early days; now they feel much more contrived. Great musicians (great Marcelloooo), it’s a shame that in Salento you only hear this kind of music, excluding everything else.....

Okay, ultra-technical, okay time changes, okay great musicians, okay the beautiful fretless bass prominently featured, but this CD is terrifyingly cold!!! This doesn't mean I don't like it; on the contrary... thankfully, there are some very beautiful lyrics.

Great mention, if you compare them to the grand ephel duath and maudlin of the well, I absolutely have to listen to them.

Thank you for the suggestion, Logic Probe; I will try to get them from my seventies design friends.
New Trolls Concerto Grosso n° 2

I only have the first concerto grosso by New Trolls, and I believe it's one of the very few examples of contamination between rock and classical in Italy in the '70s. A fantastic album that, however, seems somewhat forgotten. My goodness, if I think back to those guitars that had the same sound as violins (don’t you think?) and the mega improvisations in the studio...
