"Down in a Hole" and "Would" for one, and "Nutshell" and "I Stay Away" for the other, would be enough to sweep this away. Ah, I hadn't read the reasoning... So "Down in a Hole" would casually piss on "Wake Up," for example? And "Would?" (What does "Would?" have to do with it?) perhaps gives a nod to "Lifeless Dead?" "Nutshell" might shit on "Artificial Red," "Lone Gone Day," or even a masterpiece like "River of Deceit?" I don't compare "I Stay Away" to anything because it's too dear to me. You have no idea how much it irritates me to compare Alice in Chains tracks to Above (as Madcat rightly said), really a lot, they don’t belong together at all. Here, I find that the interpretation and intensity achieved by Staley is far superior to any AIC album (also thanks to the different background of the musicians, which leans more toward hard rock and acid blues than toward the more metallic side of Cantrell and associates). I believe that the perfect combination of instrumentalists and refined sounds fit like a velvet glove to Staley's voice, which could finally express its greatness outside the context of Alice in Chains. If you listen to each track, you'll notice that certain nuances can only be found exclusively in Above. Ah, I prefer by far the guitar touch that McCready has on this album over all of Jerry Cantrell's riffs.

"But stop it, Cornell... Say that you like it, say that it’s a great work (which is true), but go tell someone else the nonsense that this is the best album Staley ever worked on... Dirt and Jar of Flies piss all over this... And what does Cantrell have to do with it? I don’t get the irony..." Not everyone understands the irony. Dirt and Jar of Flies piss all over this? Well, you said it... Pissing on an album that opens with "Wake Up" seems pretty harsh to me, and I’m not saying this because I’m more ā€œcoolā€ than others, you know I really don’t care... Now motivate your statement; if you can prove concretely that Dirt and Jar Of Flies (as much as they are masterpieces too) can piss all over Above (and pissing all over means they’re light-years ahead...), maybe I’ll change my mind.

Are all pianists those who criticize? And what kind of nonsense is that "Acrobatics, if there are any, must serve a purpose, not to 'astonish'... Conte, I care about you, but that's a discussion more related to people like Malmsteen than to a pianist. If you throw a guitar solo at me at 180 notes per second, after three I’m over it... For the piano, when someone 'flies' over the keys, my jaw drops and it could go on for two hours. And then "He should go to the circus, then. I want to be amazed by expressiveness!"... So, ask the virtuoso pianist of the moment to make funny faces while playing.

"There are several objective elements that are usually used to write a review: biographical notes, perhaps spiced up with some curious anecdotes; comparisons or associations with other works and musicians; descriptions of the type of sound; historical and social context; etc., etc.
Today, however, I don’t need any of that..." ... And we realized it....

I quote, and in a rather ugly way, comment number 1 (and also the vote). Now Mr. PRINCEXERO, I'm waiting for the plagiarism citation. ;)))

The original cover was beautiful! But it just couldn't be used.. You know I still can't read the band's name completely after two or three days of being home? Great review, as usual..

I’ve never understood whether this really came out of the drug tunnel and now is spinning around singing with the children, or if he’s just pulling everyone's leg and still acts like a musk ox.
