It's worth mentioning that many times he couldn't even sing his own songs. I never managed to see a Soundgarden live show, and that's a gap I will never fill, but I listened to recordings even in their prime and I must say that live he lost quite a bit. Nonetheless, he is and will always be my favorite screamer... It's a matter of devotion...

I completely agree with your point of view. Let’s say he exaggerated beyond limits and paid the consequences. A good singer can be recognized by their ability to acknowledge their limits, make the most of them, and give their voice all possible nuances without ever straining. Going beyond is harmful, even though trying to push the limit can sometimes become a mental challenge... Only Demetrio Stratos managed to completely transcend the human limit, but that’s another story... But what happened to Jon DeLeo?

Thank you.. You’re amazing, especially for being born in 1983 and listening to this music..

I've followed Cornell's entire artistic journey from Fopp/Screaming Life, through Ultramegaok (an amazing album, just listen to "Beyond The Wheel" to get a sense of the voice he had), Louder Than Love (and here we are almost at the peak), Badmotorfinger ("Slaves & Bulldozers" and "Jesus Christ Pose" are unreachable, but everything else.. let's leave it alone..), Superunknown (a monumental album, nothing more to say) and Down on the Upside (which, to be honest, I liked quite a bit..), veering through Temple of the Dog (in my opinion, the best of Cornell's career; we won't hear tracks like "Hunger Strike" with Eddie Vedder, "Say hello to heaven" is spine-tingling, "Reach Down," "Call me a dog," go listen to the high note in the middle.., "Wooden Jesus".. Damn, great album, even if "great" feels reductive..) arriving at Euphoria Morning (which I appreciated a lot despite the criticism) and Audioslave (the first is nice, a bit less so the second, and pleasant the third). I can only tell you one thing: using the voice like Chris Cornell does is almost humanly impossible. First, because he doesn't use falsetto, everything he's done has been with a super full voice. Such in-tune screams are unimaginable. He's had some surgeries, that's true, but damn, singing like him is at the limit of resources and even beyond.. I'm not surprised that his voice is now gone.. But he still maintains it excellently despite his age and having spent the last 20 years screaming like crazy. There will never be another Soundgarden era, because he can no longer hit those high notes; the highs are long gone, but even now I don't mind his voice; on the contrary.. If you learn to sing and use your voice (with awareness, mind you..) with Chris Cornell's songs, as I have (I don't want to brag; in fact, mine has been a continuous search for vocal use taking Chris's singing as a model and it continues even now.. How many times have I lost it, I’ve wrecked my throat, my vocal cords have taken a beating, but I’ve never been left voiceless, and in the end, I've learned.. Rest assured you'll be able to sing almost everything and the results will be excellent.. I've never been able to do "Jesus Christ Pose," nor "Beyond the Wheel"; everyone has their limits, unfortunately, but I can sing most of his repertoire and keep my voice even the next day.. Don’t criticize one of the greatest singers in the history of rock just because he’s no longer the Chris of Soundgarden; it would be impossible at 40 years old! I consider him, in his golden days, even better than Plant for power and vocal range.. Even though Ian Gillan was even more extraordinary. It’s easy to criticize his voice when you don’t take into account that all the Soundgarden albums were also taken on grueling tours and screamed across the world with a struggle you can’t even remotely imagine.. And they weren't tracks like "a tear on the face," come on..

What the hell came out? It doesn't matter, even if it's crap, I'll take it anyway.. It's a matter of devotion to one of the greatest voices of all time..

Can you explain to me why Mr. Big has been the best hard rock group of the last 20 years?

Alright, I won't insist.. I've listened to all of them, but I didn't buy anything because I don't like them. The only one I own, obviously burned, is the suicide of the samurai because it was intended for a colleague, but he couldn't listen to it so I took it.. Anyway, the first time I listened to them, I immediately thought: Nirvana.. I can't help it, they remind me of them terrifyingly. It's a matter of perspective. I didn't say they suck, (there are other bands that suck to me, but not Verdena) on the contrary, far from it, I find them interesting, but I can't listen to them. I will delve deeper into listening..
