@GRANT: I would find Chris Martin turning to speed metal more credible. I spent years following Cornell both with Soundgarden, which I adored and listened to until exhaustion, and with Audioslave, whose first album I appreciated, but a little less so with the other two. I consider Temple of the Dog a masterpiece of hard rock, worthy of standing in the pantheon of sacred monsters. I still listen to Euphoria Morning today with extreme pleasure; I thought Carry On was just a bump in the road. When I listened to some tracks from this Scream, I understood what it means for a die-hard fan to feel deeply betrayed and messed with. A bit like after Metallica's "Black Album."
