I don't think your antithesis between Dylan Floyd progressive and the "lightness" of disco is on point, that little slip that rock is for cool people while disco is for idiots. I don't believe that AC/DC fans show up and talk like they're cool. Popular music is for everyone, idiots and evolved dimwits: that's its beauty. People fight, stab each other, and die even in the cheerful and positive nightclubs: not far from my house, three years ago five young men and a mother of a family died, crushed by the crowd at the exit of a cheerful and positive nightclub, due to four disco idiots.
What's the difference between rock, disco, trap, Italian melodic music, etc., at a popular level? None. It's music that isn't elitist... not even Emerson's was, indeed it often was rather tacky.
To me, Queen are the absolute example of tackiness and genius going hand in hand, in the same album, even in the same song.
And so we return to tastes and even better, as the good mrbluesky claimed, to certain absolute values that one holds while living, and which for him are not opinions, but truths.
_God doesnāt exist; itās a human invention.
_Gabriel should have stayed in Genesis; alone heās boring.
_Berlusconi is a scoundrel, always lying, busy 24/7 taking care of his own affairs and certainly not those of the Italians.
_Van Gogh was a vandal of canvases.
_Bach a genius.
_Politics is the official and institutionalized means by which the minority of "pigs" holds the majority of "sheep" in check, backed by the other minority of "dogs."
_Scarlett Johansson is overflowing with sensuality.
_The painting "Girl with a Pearl Earring" is worth a hundred times "The Mona Lisa."
_Jazz and blues, taken solo at 100%, are boring, but their melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic merits have contributed to making the most driving yet rigid rock, and the most vacuous pop, beautiful and kaleidoscopic musical genres.
These aforementioned, as examples more or less seriously, are some of my beliefs (not opinions) that support my path in this world. One must have boundaries in life; otherwise, one knows neither meat nor fish.
