I only know a handful of songs by this guy that a crazy exhausted person sent me, and I have to say they create quite an atmosphere. I really like these folkish things a lot. I vote for the charm.

Great and honest band. Nice memories, I used to listen to them in middle school...

Surely Supersoul, you state all very true and undeniable things. Furthermore, your comment has a good dose of balance and common sense; the problem arises when you hear statements like: "the Pistols were McLaren's brainless mannequins," or "the Pistols were four puppets who had the punk look and nothing else." It's quite the opposite: the group brought the substance, the ideas, they put their faces out there, while McLaren focused on appearances, theatricality, the EXTERNAL aspect of the group. Because their philosophy, Rotten or Vicious, was created by them long before they even knew of Malcolm's existence. If we want to put it that way, McLaren is to the Pistols what Warhol is to the Velvet Underground, and certainly less than, for example, Sinclair is to the MC5. I hope I got the idea across.

Oh well, lucky you for letting yourself get played by McLaren.

Forgive me, maryg, I wasn't referring to you, but to this general attitude of underestimating the Sex Pistols almost out of fear of... overestimating them. I'm not talking about liking or disliking; tastes are sacred, but to deny their importance honestly seems ridiculous to me. Reviewer: even this fairy tale of McLaren, frankly, has been embellished too much, aided by the film he circulated, to which so many have bitten like sardines; what was McLaren? A manager, neither more nor less. What did he do? He brought the individual members to prominence, but he was neither the puppet master nor, let alone, the spiritual father. He organized concerts, acted as a promoter, things that hold for any other band. But rest assured, the Pistols would have been the Pistols even without him.

But why is it so trendy to speak poorly of the Sex Pistols? And to think they’ve only turned the history of music inside out like a wet sock. I know it’s not a trendy statement, but alas, if I don’t tell the truth, I get pretty close.

I love the BBs, even though I don’t have this one. I’ll take care of it soon. Ah, gorgeous cover. 19 lengths: we all understood that you're a fake, at least try to be funny, otherwise you’re a bit boring. Bye.
