I don’t dismiss the technique 'in toto', I simply mean that as far as my way of conceiving music goes, technique isn’t that relevant and especially doesn’t need to be as exaggerated as in the case of Dream Theater... I’ll tell you that I also listen to a lot of rap music where the instrumental level is almost (and I emphasize 'almost') zeroed out, all in virtue of the priority given to the concept... but my favorite band is Hole, who honestly play terribly... they’re not the best, but in terms of depth and sensitivity, they’re the best... for me...
