I don’t expect much from the big names now; I evaluated the album based on what I expected from them, which is little to nothing. Instead, there’s a little more than I was expecting, that’s all. I didn’t buy it and I’ll tell you that I listen to it at friends’ places, but if they play it, it’s not unpleasant to my ears.

Some songs are definitely pop in the latest album, but others are remarkable even if they don't say anything new. And believe me, I used to be ruthless with the Rolling Stones, saying it was time for them to retire from the spotlight.

I gather, Dave, that you’re not very fond of traditional rock with blues undertones, let’s say like the Rolling Stones. I also love more complex sounds, but you know how it is; you either feel it in your body or in your mind.
