eheheheh it’s just my opinion atlante not the gospel :-), there are many other Bertolucci films worthy of being called masterpieces, like Novecento and The Last Emperor. it’s just a view.

I saw this film too many years ago and I remember little. What I do remember is that at a certain point all the flaws of this bourgeoisie come to light, also because the protagonists seem no longer to care about what happened to Lea Massari but only about their "small" existences. The review is nice but I am puzzled by that 2 for the film. Anyway, an excellent film about a collapsing bourgeoisie is Il fascino discreto della borghesia by Bunuel, which I feel like recommending to everyone.

The review isn't bad, but maybe you focused too much on other things and not enough on the substance of the film and the pivotal scenes. Also, you meant to say Mr. Torrance, not Grady; you probably got confused. Anyway, regarding the point about the terrifying faces, I agree with you (who knows how many times Kubrick made those poor souls redo the scenes; Nicholson did the "big bad wolf" scene 92 times!!)
