Brian De Palma Carlito's Way

I don't think Scarface is more popular because it talks about coke (it's talked about here too, albeit to a lesser extent), but a lot of people have seen it because word about this movie has spread. A few years ago, almost nobody knew Scarface. When I ask the many people who have seen Scarface if they've seen Carlito's Way, they respond that they don't even know what it is... In short, for me, Scarface is overrated.

I believe that Scarface is more known for the reputation it has built: "Hey, Tony Montana, there's the coke, let's see it." These are the comments I hear around regarding Scarface. Many such comments come from people who don't even know who De Palma is and who judge Amore 14 as a masterpiece... with this, I don't mean to say that Scarface is a bad film; on the contrary... I simply find it inferior to Carlito's.

in my opinion, the greatest psychological novel remains Ulysses by James Joyce...

If I remember correctly, it's John Leguizamo who, among other things, had a role in the disastrous Shyamalan film "The Happening."

What do you mean by gothic? The Castle of Otranto is gothic and it is 50 years older than this.
Dario Argento La Terza Madre

The real problem with Argento is his daughter: I saw the Stendhal syndrome and Asia's acting is nauseating. As for the film, something is salvaged: the initial minutes and partly the final ones. The true weak point (besides the already mentioned Asia) is the special effects. The visions of the mother are laughable, a filmic choice that is wrong. This comes from someone who is crazy about Argento. Speaking honestly, though, Suspiria, Profondo Rosso, Inferno were something else. Another point against it is the choice of splatter. Dario shouldn't conform to what people want to see but should make his own cinema. In Suspiria, as far as I remember, few people die, yet the woman who dies in the barbed wire is chilling...

psychedelic, crazy, deliberately unscripted. masterpiece

The Bird with the Crystal Plumage is a great film that I don't consider horror, but rather a police thriller. I have yet to see The Cat O' Nine Tails. Four Flies on Grey Velvet left a bittersweet taste in my mouth; in short, it didn't quite grab me. Deep Red is one of the greatest Italian thrillers of all time. Suspiria is perhaps his first true horror and it's captivating: the cinematography is something sublime. I haven't seen Inferno. Tenebre starts to show the first hiccups but remains a great film, certainly his most violent. With Opera, a slow and inexorable decline begins. P.S. In the United States, a remake of Suspiria is currently in the works, initiated by Dario himself, who is collaborating on it.

Honestly, I find Suspiria to be a great film that has inspired half of the horror production that followed. Profondo Rosso is definitely superior to it, even if it's not exactly horror.

Yes, with Giannini. The four French titles I believe are the best in Europe in recent years. However, there are also Sheitan, Vinyan, and À l'intérieur. Last year, Aja's new film came out, namely Mirrors, but I find it a misstep. Certainly the worst of his filmography.
