Appaloosa, for me, is superior simply because it feels much more "real" than this... As for the fact that in a real western it wouldn't have ended this way... if you're the most wanted outlaw, you don't capture yourself; instead, you would shoot from behind immediately. Here, the sentiment of friendship is overemphasized to the point of not being a true representation of the West. In Eastwood's Unforgiven, people were killed from behind...
