Reviewed once again. Now I believe I can give a judgment. First of all, I don't like her interpretation. In too many moments, it feels forced and "goes too far." I also dislike her dubbing. The film primarily aims to make us reflect on human fears and sufferings, which stem from humanity's own stupidity. With slow motion, black and white, gratuitous pornographic situations. If you want to convey something through the atmosphere (which, by the way, is rendered masterfully), the result is a coldness underneath that doesn't instill fear or provoke reflection. In my opinion, Trier takes too much pleasure in himself, far too much. The emotions don't come through (and that's not good). The film is technically perfect, brilliantly shot, deliberately "complicated," yet not entirely engaging...
