I'm reading it and I was planning to review it, but you beat me to it and with great critical insight as well. I won't rate the book just yet: genius and perverse, but sometimes really not very smooth. Nevertheless, I wouldn't be inclined to give it a 5...

Okay, they may be nice (especially the last one), but I wouldn't place them among the great metal bands...

I have to tell the truth: I listened to the whole album, and my rating doesn’t go beyond passing. There’s something new (for example, the more seventies solos than “metallic” ones, or the space hint in Starblind), but too many parts remain in the shadows due to prolixity and musical choices. I believe that nowadays any new album from the great metal bands is dismissed as if people expect a new Imaginations from the Other Side for Blind Guardian, a new Seventh Son of a Seventh Son for Iron Maiden, a new Master of Puppets for Metallica, a new Keeper of the Seven Keys I for Helloween. Let’s take these albums for what they are, because it’s undeniable that comparisons with the past risk casting a bad light on today’s albums (don’t worry, I’m the first to make comparisons). My feeling is that we now tend to dismiss almost everything. A line born from the realization of being one of the very few who liked this record.

I believe I’m one of the most die-hard fans of Iron Maiden. I have always defended them in every way. However, listening to El Dorado and The Final Frontier, I can say that their ideas are running low, even though they are not bad. My rating for the album is solely based on my knowledge of these two songs; the rest still needs to be listened to. I wouldn’t want to diminish what this band has given to metal, to music...
