A substantial, powerful, and well-played album, although at times it feels a bit too "calculated." Nevertheless, it's worth it. I still prefer the melodic/epic Amon to the more aggressive ones from "Once sent from the golden hall" and "The crusher."

I prefer them in this epic/melodic guise that started with Versus the World, rather than in the more deathly style that characterized the first three albums. I find the title track and "Arson" spectacular on this album.
