Lately I've listened to "The Animal Spirits," their latest album. A good record, neither too good nor too bad. I even decided to review it, but then I can't remember why I abandoned the idea. They are still a band worth rediscovering. Well done for doing that. I don't know the CD, so I'll try to find it somewhere. Best regards.

My grandfather has always hated politics, even though he was a communist at heart. He despises everything about today's politics, feeling only a slight admiration for Vendola. He is one of those people for whom nothing is ever right. Yet his 50 years on the construction site, when he would get up at 5 in the morning and return home exhausted in the evening, marked his soul. Perhaps that’s why every time he is mentioned, when Berlinguer is remembered, he always says: "In the evening I returned home serene, because I had done my duty and because I knew that Berlinguer was thinking of me and all the workers..."

I just finished watching it. What can I say: it takes a while to recover. Sometimes it seems that the two directors linger too much on the violence for its own sake, but it all contributes to a sense of realism that is the most disturbing aspect of the film. The theme is also quite touching: it’s no coincidence that all this happens on Christmas night, almost in an attempt to desacralize the coming of Christ by showing us a gruesome and utterly "real" violence. The added touch is the cinematography, perfect in every second of the film. A solid 4.5 rounded up. A must-see.

Darren Aronofsky Il Cigno Nero

Obsessive, at times disturbing, hypnotic, sadistic: perfect Aronofsky style. That said, I have come to the conclusion that without Portman, and also Hershey (the mother), the film would have dropped quite a bit. Sometimes, it seems like Aronofsky pushes too hard on the accelerator, indulging in what I would call his "cinematic perversions," which are often not suitable for the film. To be fair, everything is in its place and there are scenes truly worthy of note, but I was probably expecting a little more. He remains, nonetheless, an interesting director to keep an eye on.
