I may be old-fashioned, but the best FIFA game in history is '96, with the ability to comfortably score from midfield by adding just the right spin to the ball, and with the outrageous stats of some players. According to the game, Zola and Fontolan were on the same level, and Dennis Bergkamp was almost as good as Maradona. In its own way, spectacular!

"The woman, on the other hand, thinks of the Harmony of the World and the beautiful things that life gives us on a day like this where light is synonymous with positivity blah blah blah." But wasn't that Saint Francis?

Having listened to the album, I’m more than happy to give it a 4. And how beautiful "Black Gives Way To Blue" is: I still remember the usual prejudices about Elton John playing the piano, and the supposed incompatibility between two artists who make completely different music. I find the song very moving, and Elton John's contribution is far from any kitsch one might expect; it almost seems like he’s standing in a corner, politely limiting himself to accompaniment, without the typical showiness of a duet, while the beautiful voice of Cantrell and his guitar rightly dominate the scene. Frankly, I feel confident in saying—without wanting to diminish DuVall or the importance of Staley's contribution—that if AIC had to move forward in the end, they could have done it as a trio.

The vote. I will listen to the album, also because I didn't mind the single. Maybe just a bit too long.

Great review, concise enough. Thank you for sparing us a predictable long-winded explanation about the reasons that led to the return to the scene, or the usual epitaph rhetoric typical of post-mortem reunion critiques. To dwell on the why and how would have been too lengthy for a review. In the end, I agree with Telespalla, it's just music. I believe it's appropriate to approach certain matters, which ultimately don't concern us at all, with the right detachment.

@Aerosiphon: There's a 5-minute "edit" version of Time Flies. Relatively speaking, it could still be a "hit" :) For me, it's a great piece, but I'd prefer to listen to the album at least once more before voting on it.
Vasco Rossi Ad Ogni Costo

The melody is saved simply because the piece is still "Creep," but the fact that it is performed in slow motion, as if it were "Sally" or "Un Senso," is proof that Vasco can now only make this kind of songs, or alternatively a bit of cheesy rock like "Gioca Con Me." As for the interpretation, the poignant and melancholic effect I believe is a consequence of his vocal timbre and the very low register.

Don't worry, I was clear about the "intentions." Let's just say that the juxtaposition itself caught me off guard a bit, because sometimes I have these moments of whimsical moralism that I regret 30 seconds later :)

Interesting proposal and a concise yet comprehensive review. I must say, however, that despite the value of the Mona Lisa and A Clockwork Orange, the desacralization of the maternal womb, or of life in general, does not hold up, and perhaps cannot tolerate, any comparison.
