thank you (as always) Francescobus... indeed, the Def from the late 80s/90s were somewhat inflated by the success they had with this and the following album... anyway, I recommend you listen to the first two works On Through the Night and High'n'Dry, where the Def were definitely more "genuine" and direct... even on this record, their spontaneity is not bad, in fact it’s on the first three works that they manage to convey an instinctiveness that materializes in a hard rock but "felt" (without diminishing an album like Hysteria)... give them a try... once again, thank you and I greet you... goodbye

great review that, without getting lost in unnecessary wordiness, intrigues and fascinates... congratulations Fidia... here you go

Here I am as promised and... I must say that I really liked the review... congratulations Federico... regarding the album, I've never been a fan of Barnes either here or in C.C.... the SFU didn't bring anything new to me and I haven't listened to them much, but now I think I might give them another chance... see you at the next review then (perhaps done with six hands, [see my latest review])... :-)))

Wow... it's true... they are missing... Absolute Power is fantastic... I only have that one but from what I know they haven't made any others, except for a few demos before... well... it would be something to try, like, we send each other ideas via email... :-) ... I was thinking about Forbidden Evil but Absolute Power would be just fine... maybe next week we can agree on it (now that Federico is back...)... hi Bartle, have a great weekend!

I can't help but rejoice at your return, Francescobus... IT WAS ABOUT TIME... I didn't have the chance to read the review (I'm writing from a computer in secret) but I'm happy to see one of your writings again... one of the best reviewers on DeBaser... when I have time, I'll stop by and vote (it'll be the first thing I'll do)... bye

Ok... great... even though one day I would love to do a three-way review: yours, Francescobus's, and mine... if we all agree and if we manage... :-)... back to Destruction, then you have to include Sentence of Death, and I’ll pick up Mad Butcher as well... :-D... Haloaaaaa...

@Bartleboom... in fact, it is a flaw of mine: objectively (maybe) this album isn't a 5, but in many cases my rating reflects my relationship with a certain album, my memories, the fact that I'm particularly attached to a song (innocent)... I know that a good reviewer shouldn't let their personal preferences influence the analysis of an album, but I've never considered myself a good reviewer :-P... meanwhile, I thank you as always for your (very enjoyable) contributions and I eagerly await your new review... by the way, I wanted to ask you, the reviews of Eternal Devastation and Infernal Overkill are missing... what do you say? :-)... shall we split them?

hey hey... I don't know how you got that impression, but I didn't mean to be polemical or disrespectful with my response to your first comment; I specifically mentioned that it was just my personal opinion... I simply expressed my judgment based on my knowledge at the time (and I assure you, at that time I also listened to almost exclusively metal)... my opinion is that you can't say that Threshold were "famous"... among my "little friends," if I mentioned Threshold, they would say: "who?!?"... and it doesn't seem to me that they were very well regarded even in terms of distribution (it took me a month of searching to get this album...)... I agree with Bartle in saying that just because specialized journalistic criticism praises a product, it doesn’t mean that product is successful (and thus overvalued, undervalued, or even rightly judged)... as I see it, being overvalued (or undervalued) depends on the fan following or even the fame that a band creates... critics are just doing their job, regardless of the album they are analyzing... but I REPEAT... it's just my personal opinion... you’re completely free to think however you want, but please don’t take it personally... I wanted to discuss, not argue about your opinion (no matter how different it is from mine)... alright... sorry for being so wordy... but please don’t take it the wrong way… no one thought I was criticizing out of bias.

overrated??? :-|??? Sorry, but how can a group that is practically semi-unknown to the masses be considered overrated? The Threshold have received much less than they deserve (especially with this album) and if anything, they have been underrated (just look at the clichéd and banal references to the Dream Theater)... However, if your opinion is a perfectly valid "de gustibus," that's fine... you don't like them, but saying they're overrated doesn't seem right to me (but that's just my opinion)... what should we say then about the Dream Theater or those like them who enjoy fame and money, having merits that are 20 years old?
