what garbage MCR is. unfortunately, my ex-wife loved them a lot and I had to see them live an infinite number of times. such a drag. their fake rebellion makes my blood boil. their ancient music makes my knees weak. their poses as alternatives make my hernia act up. guys, I get that you're young & naive, I respect everyone's tastes, but not MCR. listen to something else, por favor, or I'll introduce you to my ex-wife, and then it’s all your problem…
The Last Poets Live @ Melkweg - Amsterdam, XX secolo

Thank you all for reading.
Zion, there could be a discussion about the godfathers of rap music. Apart from the fact that you completely dissed poor Sponie Gee, who actually released a "Godfather of Rap" album, and the title track was quite beautiful, I don't really agree that the poets, especially in their first two fundamental LPs, were rapping. Rappers have the fact of being pissed off (black) and talking over percussive beats, but it seems to me that the metrics of their verses are quite far from rap rhymes. If they had been white, maybe they would have been considered "folk." For the rest, MASSIVE respect for the Last Poets, and anyone who doesn't have their first LP is an Uncle Tom.
Lee Perry Soul Fire - An introduction to Lee "Scratch" Perry

maximum respect of prammatica for anything that even remotely smells of black ark, but if we really want to talk about anthologies, then I think the triple arkology is superior. the booklet is stunning.
I agree with you on the influence that dub has had on contemporary music; 4\5 of today's electronic music would be totally different if it weren't for the great lesson from the Kingston studios.
best dub album in your opinion?
I never get tired of satta dub (the abyssinians are truly great, I saw them live in Marseille two years ago and they are still genius) and of termination dub with king tubby at the controls.
but is it true that lee scratch perry lives in Switzerland?
Elio e le Storie Tese Del meglio del nostro meglio vol 1

broad humor, trivial music, the same identical formula repeated for years without the slightest renewal; all that's missing is for the Pope to play them and then E&lST are ready for beatification. They disgust me.
Herbie Hancock Maiden Voyage

Years ago, I was talking about Hancock with a friend. A guy shows up, a friend of my friend, and inserts himself into the conversation with a smug look and says, "But is this 'er bienco' from Puglia? I've never heard of it."
DJ Shadow Endtroducing....

the most overrated album in Europe. samples for their own sake over beats older than god. in the end, one has to say, okay, he has a ton of vinyl, so what? a work that completely lacks coherence and above all sounds old, very old, due to the total lack of freshness in the compositions. ah, he samples zarrillo. and so? I hate zarrillo.
Morcheeba Parts Of The Process

morcheeba: cheeba is the grass (the kind you roll up, you know), mor could stand for "more", still, I wouldn’t bet my hand on it. I only like "friction" by morcheeba from I don’t remember which album. The rest sounds a bit too light to me. The voice is undoubtedly beautiful, though.
Dj Spooky 5 questions to Dj Spooky
Voto:
However, the old spooky, in my opinion, has always put a lot on the table without ever coming out with a truly convincing album. Between industrial impulses (the collaboration with Scanner), more laid-back stuff (his more strictly personal production, Riddim Warfare, Optometry, etc.), DJ compilations (Under the Influence), in the end, the thing that convinced me the most was his collaboration with the Freight Elevator Quartet (file under Futurism). It must be said, though, that the FEQ album without Spooky is quite a bit better... too much eclecticism. He even appeared on a triple-CD drone compilation from Asphodel (not the ones that are popular now, with metalheads, but ambient drone) with a track that was, I don't know, pretty lame.
Molotov Donde Jugaran Las Ninas

I don't really agree. Originality... who knows. Maybe it's because they sing in Spanish, but they've always sounded a bit "old" to me, if you know what I mean.
adios

Yes, but "Sweet Sweetback" etc. isn’t exactly a great film. I found it extremely confusing, or maybe I was the one confused, and who am I, then?
