The issue of "depth" is a longstanding one. I believe that if you decide to create art and push the boundaries (assuming the term makes sense) as I think JS tries to do, then you have to strive for coherence and draw the ultimate conclusions of your research. Otherwise, you have a god-given talent and make great songs, and that's the end of it. However, in JS's case, it seems to me that this latter component is somewhat lacking, and that overall the aesthetic choices, in a broad sense, ultimately boil down to a few shrieks, leather pants, "clattering" guitars, and some mascara. I see the pretentiousness precisely in this posturing as a genre-extremist (which he evidently considers) "old," like the blues, which, in my opinion, are perfectly fine even without the latest child prodigy.

um, I didn’t mean to disrespect the engineers, it was just to say, for the sake of provocation.

If that's the case, JS has also sung with other legends (bluesmen and others), but that doesn't change the fact that I find him arrogant and definitely overrated. I see his music as a clever blend of blues resurrections (but not too much), noise sweeteners (but not too much), and "punk" aesthetics (but not too much). In short, he creates a potentially explosive mix but lacks the courage to follow through and ends up offering a comforting product (oh yes) that winks at "moderate enthusiasts" and engineers who, when they see leather pants, smell rebellion and say, "damn, what a hit." I repeat, maximum respect for the Martinez, who at least makes no secret of this pop inclination that I clearly see behind the whole blues explosion scene and churns out good and catchy little songs. I won’t fall for the "yeah" screams.
The Orb The Orb's Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld
Voto:
Well, in fact the Orb were completely missing. Nice album. In my opinion, however, it's aged a bit poorly, in the sense that with all the water that has flowed under the bridge of electronics in the last ten years, the sounds of this work risk sounding outdated. For example, compared to productions from even six or seven years ago, the beat programming of the Orb already seems static and lacking in impact. In short, the path taken by "a certain type of music" (breakbeat, dubstep, D'n'B...) has definitely relegated the Orb to the past. Want a great ambient/drum'n'bass album? Fourier Wave Device is your band. Due to issues with the label, moreover, the CD was available for free download from their website...

Ah, here we go. Let me explain: yesterday I read this review. I went to your profile and saw the photo. After finishing work, I took the bus, and on the bus, there was a guy IDENTICAL to the photo. That's all.

Aunt Bice, are you by any chance from Genoa?

JS gets on my nerves a bit. Too many airs of a "rocker," of an intellectual rehashing the blues, of I-know-one-more-than-the-devil. And then his music lacks something fundamental: irony. The young man takes himself too seriously. And none of his albums has ever driven me crazy. Maximum respect, though, for Martinez.
