Let it be clear that "cheap emotions" was not referring to this album, which I have never heard, but as I specified, I was generalizing a bit based on my recent listens.
The Fall Live At The Witch Trials

poor ze fall, you've put them through the wringer a bit. I think they're a great band, consistent and stubborn in their monolithic nature and their refusal to sell out to the point of being moving. More than repetitive, they're hypnotic, and then knowledgeable, musically and in general. The comparison with Pere Ubu... I had never thought of that... maybe you're right. I've never heard this (like 70% of their production, but I dare anyone) and maybe I'll make up for it. Good job on the review.

I suppose the vote should be understood in the opposite way, that is -4.

always on point tepes. I didn't quite understand if "true bestial padan metal" is their self-definition or if you made it up to mess with them. In case A, it would really be an album to recommend, but for the comedic impact.

one of the ugliest names of all time for a great review. but is it possible that with all these post-core enthusiasts no one ever brings up snapcase and, above all, culture?

word of the day: "approach".

Returning to post-rock, I find similarities with dub, which I love very much; in both approaches (I’m generalizing like crazy) there’s the pleasure and vertigo of expansion and a horizontal and almost synchronic approach. However, in dub, this hesitation is resolved by the "narrative" role of the bass that "moves things forward," while post-rock, on the other hand, exacerbates the expansion and never offers a bridge to cross the abyss it leads you to. As an approach, it’s interesting, but I find that it has been overused to generate somewhat cheap emotions.

Yes, in the end, post-rock is all there. It's not that I don't enjoy it; it’s just that I end up wanting something more immediate. Hilde is truly great. Do you know Caprice? A Russian neoclassical ensemble with a strong literary inspiration. Sometimes a bit simplistic (like the omnipresent and suffocating Tolkien reimagined in the three CDs of Elvenmusic) but in my opinion, Song of Innocence and Experience – with lyrics, of course, by Blake – is a f-a-b-u-l-o-u-s piece. link rotto
