(a clarification, since I have nothing better to do... caz is not an editor, he is part - or used to be part, rather, since he is one of our sleeping cells - of the staff as a curator of editorials; however, since he hasn’t been around for a while - and this troubles us and brings us to tears - it’s possible that new editors may not consider him a member of our intelligentsia)

Hey there! But are you really that interested in ending up in the editorscioisss? I (as someone who practices very little) am an editor and can ciossarvi as well as grassettarvi the entire text: I look forward to your offers, feel free to contact me via msgprvt, not during meal times.

Well... business has always been business, even in the Sixties: if you could get your hands on the sales charts of that time, you'd realize that at the top there were still things that didn't go down in history for their quality, most of the time, while often groups that have become historic were completely snubbed by the general public (like the Velvet Underground); other times, it has been possible to combine sales and quality, but that happens today as well (for example: the latest Radiohead albums have been successful despite a very particular and, in my opinion, very valid proposal); overall today, thanks to the internet, it's much easier to be informed, if you're curious, about quality and 'difficult' things: to say, when I was a kid, at most there was some magazine (specialty radios: zero around my area), maybe expensive and in very few copies, for the rest if you wanted to listen to something you had to have the $ to buy or have well-stocked friends or relatives...

Joe, just to... twenty years ago, if you turned on the radio (I did), you would more or less find yourself in a similar situation to now: a lot of commercial crap (Italian and not: from Albano and Romina to Modern Talking), some nice things in the commercial (Italian and not), and a few good programs that you had to look for carefully (back then, though, I didn't really look for them; I was just a kid).

Well, sorry for the tone... but the story that he would trip on acid without knowing is a tad-ino-ino-ino hard to believe, huh (there, I even add the smiley ;))... I mean, aside from the issue of the source's reliability (which I ironically alluded to with the nonsense about Martians - it was obviously a joke)... don’t you think he might have noticed that something was off from one day to the next? Or do you think no one would say to him, "Hey Syd, you're acting weird today, what did you do?" and he wouldn’t realize it? Huh, huh (the reference mainly concerns the second part of your comment where you talk about the two little crazies, the idea that Syd wouldn’t realize he was tripping and thought he was 'clean').

Yeah, whatever... lallèro... I know that in reality it was the aliens who brainwashed Syd... I read it on a website...

Well, Francis, the point is this: I already knew the album, so seeing a review about it pushed me to listen to it again (with pleasure); in short, it’s a particular case, but since I was already aware, for the most part, of the fundamental coordinates of the album (I know the tracks, the historical context, the references), I would have preferred to read a more 'full' page of a subjective view - after all, I read Debaser because I am also, as an old editorial once said, a 'peeping tom of souls'; it’s clear that there's a fine line between the aforementioned subjective view and the risk of an indigestible rant (as it can be between an original analysis of the album in its historical context and a baseless invention, to put it that way...); for sure, you did an excellent service to those who weren’t familiar with the LP and wanted some good pointers (it was so for me with your review of 'this is hardcore'), prob. you piqued someone's curiosity and pushed them to listen to a great record (imho); I wanted something different, but I repeat, I’m, specifically, a special case (besides being a pain in the ass ;D).
