Well, unfortunately, I can't judge album by album the "pop" period of ours. The hatred towards Quincy Jones is caused in this case by the fact that he pushed Benson away from jazz, depriving us of one of his singers, even though I know there are many other great reasons to love him (e.g., as you say yourself, Off the wall).
