X Wardrobe: true grindcore (emphasizing TRUE) is an extremization of hardcore. It has nothing to do with metal; later it became contaminated with death metal (thanks to Terrorizer, Carcass, Brutal Truth, etc.), but the original grind (the one from early Napalm Death, those of Scum to be clear) has nothing to do with metal.

Thank you all. Chaos A.D., I totally agree with you. Before, they used to play Morbid Angel, Death, Atheist, Cynic, all well-prepared bands with serious and profound themes (maybe Morbid a bit less, but still better than the usual blood by the liters, guts, and assorted violence). Now I have to put up with fifteen-year-old kids with bangs and tattoos listening to Annotations Of An Autopsy to act tough. That’s when I gave up on the genre; in fact, I really feel like tearing apart some deathcore crap :-)

Oh, you said nothing... Obituary! Indeed they are pillars and manage to create great things even after years; Carnifex, in comparison, fade away. In the death-grind scene, the last things that impressed me were the latest Trap Them and Japanische Kampfhorspiele, which go back 1-2 years now. Just to let you know that ideas are becoming increasingly scarce.

Yes Sfascia, it's exactly how I feel (and as I pointed out in the review at the beginning). Really WAY TOO many bands that are all the same, without a shred of creativity and/or originality, the usual growl singing, the usual horrorific names, the usual titles, the usual covers, the usual everything basically. I also used to follow the genre with more interest some time ago, then I realized it wasn't worth continuing, since once you've heard the pillars, you've heard everything else. And as for deathcore, it's the same exact thing: two or three albums are fine, the rest is all a copycat version of the predecessors. Besides, the very definition of deathcore is quite ridiculous, because it's still just brutal death. But then again, today you're not part of the scene unless you play something that necessarily has the suffix -core.

I liked it, even though the ending is a bit forced.

Essential record, but please let's not throw free crap on other pillars of rock history (Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin). Why do we have to compare such bands in such a stupid way? I don't get it...

I still have to fully come to terms with it, I only remember being devastated the first time I heard it :D

The first one is truly remarkable; I've been looking for it and will try it as soon as possible. At least, I hope so.
