Rainbow Straight Between the Eyes
Voto:
A pleasant AOR album, but nothing more (especially when compared to the early Rainbow, which were on another planet). "Stone Cold," however, is a very enjoyable example of an easy yet high-quality track... "Death Alley Driver" is also quite good (even though it's pretty similar to "Highway Star").
Black Sabbath Dehumanizer
Voto:
I completely agree with the review's reassessment of the album... this "Dehumanizer" is, for me as well, a remarkable record: you can find rare gems of beauty (and power) such as "Computer God," "After All (The Dead)," "Time Machine," and "Sins Of The Father." I also opt for the four stars. The 2008 remastering, done impeccably, further highlights the qualities of the album.
Saga Pleasure & the Pain
Voto:
Paraphrasing the title, I would say: 'Pleasure = 0% & Pain = 100%'. Truly an obscene album from every perspective... I'm usually lenient with the missteps of bands I appreciate, but here I just can't do it: zero ideas, awful and almost 'amateurish' production, anonymous tracks to which are added two failed experiments of techno music. In short: an album for which it’s hard to understand why it was released. - The review, however, is, as always, of excellent quality.
The Who Live at Leeds

Concert of stratospheric power... nothing else to add!
Pink Floyd Masters of Rock
Voto:
The collection was released during the explosion of the Pink Floyd phenomenon... and the goal of capitalizing as much as possible is clear. However, aside from the economic aspect, it must be said that the quality of the tracks is there and can be felt. Some things were avoidable (or redundant, given that the best tracks were already released): perhaps a few true rarities could have been included, but overall I would say it deserves a solid four stars. I also have it on LP... but on my version, the title is simply "Masters Of Rock" ("Vol. 1" is not there).
J.J. Abrams Star Trek
Voto:
I really liked it; I find it very well-balanced: good story, good effects (without overdoing it), good actors. Finally, after a long time, a feature film from the Star Trek universe that is definitely well-made... especially considering that the two or three previous ones were truly mediocre. I hope they continue down this path...
Jeff Wayne Jeff Wayne's Musical Version Of 'The War Of The Worlds'
Voto:
A truly interesting proposal... I've listened to the little that’s on YouTube, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I think I’ll go for the "Highlights" version since, honestly, the narrative interludes interest me relatively little. If something at a reasonable price pops up on the Bay, I’ll give it some thought!
Saga Generation 13

I don't remember this album well; I need to listen to it again carefully to give a valid opinion!
Black Sabbath Vol 4
Voto:
Lately, I've slightly toned it down, but I don't feel at all comfortable giving it less than four stars. Here, there are still truly great songs... among the best of the Black Sabbath repertoire.

Great page... I’ve basically only heard their names. Maybe I’ll look into it more...
