Claudio Baglioni Oltre (Cd1-Cd2)
Voto:
Here is a clear example of how one should not reason musically. In response to the attacks from some loyal fans, Baglioni publishes this unprecedented triple CD. In this endeavor, he is assisted by a series of more or less famous friends, but the desire to overdo it and the overly lofty musical ambitions have only produced a mouse: a triple CD in which only a few songs stand out, many lack rhythm, others lack substance, and numerous are absolutely unnecessary. It will be released three years late and will sell much, much less than what the record company expected. Between East and West, Baglioni makes several missteps: charming when he sings "Io dal mare," unbearable when he philosophizes in "Naso di falco." There is no logic, and what’s worse, there is no coherence. Not among Baglioni's worst albums, but we are on the edge. Very much on the edge. Marco Poletti Dixit.

A fragile record, but after all Baglioni was just starting out (in fact, this is his first album). The music is utterly simplistic and classical, with love verses typical of a teenager experiencing symptoms of ordinary omnipotence. It's worth noting the presence of "Signora Lia," but the album doesn't redeem itself thanks to a syrupy and cheeky little song. With time, he will do better, but he will never reach, and this will always be a major limitation of his, excellence. Too much kindness, dear de-reviewer... Too much kindness. Marco Poletti Dixit.

Carmen Consoli with Nada? Mind-blowing (or rather, spine-tingling)... Marco Poletti said.

A record that I'm missing. But is it as beautiful as the derecensore says, or is it a massive hoax? Debaser fans of the world, unite and give me an answer. Marco Poletti Dixit.

He goes to Sanremo with "In bianco e nero," it doesn’t break through, but it’s appreciated (though I see that many here ridicule it, well, that’s their business), and he unveils an exhilarating album: not only rock, but also plenty of soul, jazz, Italian music, and Latin tradition. The standout moments are "Parole di burro" and "In bianco e nero," and he begins to rightly define himself as a cantantessa. The weakest episode, perhaps, is the Mucciniano "L'ultimo bacio," but everything else is truly very beautiful. Marco Poletti Dixit.

"I look at a photo of my mother...", I wonder why everyone makes fun of this line? But..., perhaps they have never taken a photo in their lives. Or, much more simply, they are ignorant. Marco Poletti Dixit.

A concert of Carmen is always worth, at least, the price of the ticket. But then it depends on personal taste... Marco Poletti Dixit.
Carmen Consoli L'anfiteatro e la bambina impertinente
Voto:
Gives in to the temptations of the market: an acoustic live album in the splendid setting of the Teatro Greco in Taormina. The music loses a bit of its vibrancy and takes on a strange blandness, and Carmen loses much of her proverbial rock flair. So-so, it could have turned out significantly better. Marco Poletti Dixit.
Carmen Consoli Confusa e felice
Voto:
Beautiful and genuine Italian rock, like we haven't heard in a while (perhaps too long). Smooth songs, exquisite music: a very personal vision of the world from a bad girl (but not so naive as one might think) who feels constrained by the world and wants to rebel and, as much as possible, change it. It’s neither a crime nor a blasphemy to compare her to Alanis Morissette. And then there's the voice, considered irritating by some, yet it's hauntingly beautiful: a mix between a gag reflex and Dolores O'Riordan from The Cranberries. Does that seem a little unpoetic to you? Poor muggles..., it certainly doesn't to me. Marco Poletti Dixit.
