Dream Theater Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memory

And anyway... if you want to know... I’m also behaving politely... because... easycure... someone like me, madly in love with DT, who idolizes Petrucci to the point of buying his legendary guitar... anyone who insults this album should burn in hell!!!!!!!
easy... a piece of advice: one of these days, put Scenes from a Memory in the CD player or stereo and listen to it over and over again... each time you will find something different and little by little you will love it... I hope for you... oh... a wish... I hope you will soon become an Italian dreamer... or maybe you already are????????? Just kidding.

Yes, it's Robi Facchinetti, perhaps one of the most raucous voices in music,...someone who puts a ton of u,.,..,muaaaaaaaa la vuiiiiita in every word or line of the song.

And then singing over 4 chords like they do, (while playing those four chords) is amateur stuff... try singing over more complex riffs or rhythms and you'll see how you'll end up in a mess!!! with all due respect... you like them, that's fine, but don't call them GODS.

MusicMan, I believe that easycure belongs to a completely different musical world than ours, and that's just fine.. he prefers new wave, the things from the bands he mentioned.. so it’s probably too obvious that he finds those original and less so with DT... I, not out of arrogance, but always trying to explore, even if often only within metal, believe that period of music is far too outdated.

Of course they sound better than a battle... the Pooh don't sing as well as you claim... and then there's that other one... DJ Francesco's dad... I can't remember his name... he sings with a throat and is loud… that’s not singing... please, I won't say you're ignorant because it's right for you to have your tastes... but don’t define them as the messiahs of music because there’s much, too much better.

And let’s be clear that technique is not a mere trick. There are those who use it and know how to use it, like the DT, and those who, lacking it, resort to compositional ARTIFICES to compensate for their complete lack of ideas, creativity, and technique, like many groups from the past as well as today. Composition is not about putting together four chords and then filling them with who knows what effects or psychedelia or whatever else comes to mind. This is the path taken by many groups from the past and present to justify their mere and insignificant work.

I don't believe I have a narrow view... I can understand you, but I definitely prefer prog music by far... and so here we are... Among the bands you mentioned, there are certainly the "innovators," but I don't think they hold much weight in terms of technique and true musical knowledge. So, could we consider the Beatles to be great? The Beatles and the entire 60s-70s scene produced very mediocre music from a compositional standpoint. Then... if you talk to me about sound experimentation, that's a different story; no one could ever replicate the sound choices and effects of the Velvet Underground or Pink Floyd or others, etc... but if we're discussing the technical-compositional side, if you mention 80s indie, then I could figuratively spit in your eye, because the value of that music is unbearable. You can't compare Sonic Youth or Dinosaur Jr. to DT. They are light-years away in every respect, really. I don't have a narrow view because, like it or not, I know a thing or two about this. But you absolutely can't compare your bands with DT, who in the prog realm are the best (my references in turn cite DT... so...), in fact, you can't even compare them to the 70s prog-rock scene, to bands like Genesis, who were already light-years ahead for their time.

But? vocal technique? What the hell are you talking about? The Pooh are lucky to be in Italy because there's nothing better here. The Pooh can hardly do anything; Dodi Battaglia has been writing the same old song for 40 years. Please, we tend to praise anything that lasts... but we are in Italy, where musical ignorance is truly top-notch... please...

x Livio, regarding the concept. In the end, Nicholas is killed, but what is not known is that the murderer is actually the psychoanalyst who is none other than the reincarnation of The Miracle, who had killed the two lovers in 1928. So let's say he comes back for revenge once again... sure... it sounds a bit like Carramba che sorpresa... however...
