I'm not a fanatic of virtuosity, but I'm a fanatic of well-crafted music... and Yesterday is just haphazard. They compose music with a guitar in hand, play 2 chords and say: "ah... sounds good... let's do it this way..." that's not how you compose!!!!!!!!

feel Metropolis by Dream Theater, and we'll feel it when you understand what it means to COMPOSE, and not WRITE, a song.

But you put me in the middle of beautiful songs... I admit they are very skilled at crafting lovely melodies... but that's not enough!!! Even Evanescence makes beautiful melodies...! Anyone can create lovely melodies!!!!!!! Even my 3-year-old cousin can make lovely melodies... but music is not just a tune hummed in the shower... to create good music (not just beautiful, which is different) you need technical skill, compositional ability, theoretical and harmonic knowledge that these guys have never, I mean NEVER, demonstrated to have...!!!!!!!!

Put me DOI to do a paradigm shift of Liquid Tension Experiment... and then we'll talk in 20 years when he manages to do the intro of that song...

If you no longer want to discuss, maybe it’s because you don’t know how to defend your cause anymore, because I have more ways to defend mine than I care for. I repeat: I’m in Italy, and in Italy even DJ Francesco achieves success (to stay within the Pooh family), even Linea77 gets success... so what? Not all crap is art... not all music is art... the Poohs create beautiful melodies and nice lyrics, but don’t then tell me they have compositional and instrumental technique... you know what? In Italy there’s no talent, and if there is, it gets buried under these dinosaurs who have nothing left to say to anyone and could very well make space for those who know how to make music better than they do. To make music, five well-placed chords aren’t enough (the Beatles did it too... did they create absurd things? No... Yesterday is a piece of crap of a song)... to make GOOD music, it takes more, which the Poohs have always shown they lack. A little pentatonic lick like Battaglia’s can be done after three months of electric guitar... but he could also use melodic, Lydian, diminished, harmonic minors, melodic minors, etc... but do you see all these scales in a Pooh song???? No... because it’s always the same tear-jerking melodic lick with bends that tear the soul from the heart, those tortured bends full of emotion... but throw a pick at 200 bpm... or sweep at 150 bpm... let’s see what happens to Battaglia... respond if you know how to counter... otherwise, realize that the ignoramus in guitar and compositional matters is you. I repeat: it’s just five well-placed chords.

But who told you that I don't know the Pooh... maybe you're the presumptuous one who believes he knows the truth made music... I know the Pooh, and I know a lot of other musicians that the Pooh don't even know exist to make you understand how much higher I am... would you like to compare the Pooh with Dream Theater, or with Symphony X, or with Threshold... or with PFM just to stay in Italy? Dodi is not higher than me just because he has fame... but today's music teaches us that not always the best succeed (even Blink are higher than me... are they good?) are they among the best in the world? not among the top 200 perhaps...

..."people who, without having done a damn thing, think they can play...!"... I quote a sentence of yours, Parsival... this phrase would fit perfectly if directed at the Pooh...

I hope the compliment is sincere... Parsifal... do you want us to lash out at Dodi again, or are these few, exquisite names enough for you? Yes, indeed... we are and I am truly ignorant... forgive me... but what musical studies have you done... just to help us understand and to grasp what led you to define the Pooh as the best in the world...

Ah.. you say in Italy? ... of course: Andrea Braido, Donato Begotti, Giacomo Castellano, Marco Sfogli... there are thousands of them.

DODI among the best in the world???????? Are you joking? Because musically and guitar-wise, you’re swearing... People like Steve Vai, Satriani, Petrucci, Holdsworth, Tymmons, Gambale, Garsed, Greg Howe, and a myriad, I say a MYRIAD, could play circles around him even with four chords... okay, maybe not four, perhaps six or seven... the songs of Pooh, said by me, whom you probably won’t believe, but I study guitar and know what I'm talking about, are of a disarming compositional and executional ease... please... they have success because they were born in ITALY... and Italy offers nothing better... then they don’t have a legion of young fans... or at least I hope and believe... they were born in the distant 60s and live off their early years... why do you insist on searching in Italy for that value that doesn’t exist... the songs you mention are in the purest Italian style, made of tear-jerking love songs with beautiful, moving lyrics and a voice torn by feeling... that appeals especially to middle-aged women like them... please... they are professional, not professionals... in Italy, we had a great band that, because of groups and artists of the same low caliber as many others like the Pooh, no longer exists... Have you ever heard of PREMIATA FORNERIA MARCONI??? Those are artists, not Dodi and company...
