4) Now let’s move on to the term INNOVATION, which you have never mentioned, but it’s implicit, and don’t deny it: to innovate, to create something new. The DT, in 1991, with I&W, were innovative; they were a complete novelty. No one had ever pushed the boundaries so far, both technically and compositionally. No one had ventured so far in blending classic prog with elements of heavy metal. Furthermore, the DT are innovators of themselves, as they tend to renew and change their musical style with each album. Not always with overwhelmingly positive results, that’s for sure. But certainly renewing and giving new elements to their style.

3) If I go to the word. ORIGINAL/ORIGINALITY: the first realization of something that does not repeat previous models. Now, I dwell on two phrases: the first realization of a thing: DT were the first to blend metal elements with progressive elements. Thus, they gave originality to a genre that was, in fact, dead and buried. Furthermore, I explain the subsequent phrase: that does not repeat previous models. Here I already know that in this phrase you will find confirmation of who knows what. But it is natural that DT refer to prescribed elements: otherwise their genre would not have been progressive, but a genre entirely invented by them. So, not original in the model, given that the prog structure is deliberately complex, deliberately technical, deliberately schematic. But they are original in the idea of having created a fused genre: a mixed genre giving it life. In this, they are original. On the other hand, all the prog bands that came AFTER DT have done nothing but pick up in turn the styles of Petrucci and co... and if they did it, it means that there was something original and innovative enough to amaze and create waves of clone bands.

2) If I read the word expressiveness, or expression: to express, to manifest, to declare or to demonstrate something --> expressive: effectively conveying a thought or a feeling, opp: expressing SUBJECTIVITY participation. And I focus on the words: subjectivity and participation. Expressiveness is therefore a subjective quality, and as such it is perceived subjectively. Some grasp it, while others do not. And not grasping it is subjective, not universal. Here comes participation: those who participate in that expressive dose grasp it, while those who do not participate do not grasp it. I do not perceive the expressiveness of your groups, you do not perceive that of my group... it’s subjective.

1) According to the definition of ART in the Garzanti dictionary, it is stated: > human activity that is carried out with ingenuity and according to rules dictated by experience and study. Now, two terms stand out to me: EXPERIENCE: thus, art is composed of the experience of each individual, whether that experience is vital or musical, and therefore includes influences as well, because listening to others' music is also an experience of musical knowledge. Furthermore, STUDY: one studies in order to become artists, having a certain cultural and musical background acquired through years and years of study. And so, why believe that a group drawing from the past and showcasing a remarkable instrumental technique is not an artist, or is an inferior artist? Given these premises, the DTs are perhaps one of the peaks of popular musical artistic production (rock, pop, metal, etc.) since they incorporate all these elements. ON THIS, EASY CANNOT OBJECT, FOR IT IS NOT ME SAYING IT.

The issue of ASKING questions and then answering them is simple: the problem lies entirely in the dialogue. If you ask questions and then answer them yourself, you're already providing an answer without giving your interlocutor the chance to respond... in this case, you accept your answer as the truth and do not accept anyone else's answer as truthful or plausible! Damn... these are rules you learn in elementary school!

But excuse me... is Lux objective when it agrees with you?????

Expressiveness is subjective, but you universalize it by turning it into a discipline. And you can't... that's the point. You can't say that a Petrucci is not expressive because YOU don't grasp the expressiveness. Palm muting is something for amateurs to do... it requires nothing, it’s nothing to revolutionize or anything else... it’s like trying to revolutionize the use of a pick or something else! Palm muting cannot be expressive because at high gain levels, its sound, especially in rhythms, is ONLY percussive and rhythmic...! What I was saying is not that DT don’t make sense; I oppose your idea that EVERYTHING MUST HAVE MEANING. The central problem is that EVERYTHING MUST HAVE A MEANING RELATED TO WHAT YOU WANT OR WHAT YOU WOULD DESIRE, AND IF THIS MEANING DEPARTS FROM YOUR STYLISTIC PREFERENCE, YOU DEFINE IT AS A LOW AND WORTHLESS MEANING, WITHOUT ADMITTING THAT IT'S YOU WHO DOESN'T GRASP THE MEANING. Insisting on your presumptuousness and nonetheless undeniable musical culture, you appeal to names, citations, etc., to create alibis for your inability to find positive insights in music that feels alien to you. The point is this. The problem is not that DT do not make sense... they do not make sense TO YOU, and you try to demonstrate this subjective experience in a universe that can be deemed universal and objectified. But you can't defend your own sensation and render it universal. If you want, defend your tastes, but don't expect them to be tastes for everyone. With RESPECT, which you evidently do not have.

You're right, easy. You're completely right. Now excuse me... but since I'm not very cultured to stay on debaser, I'll step aside for people who are definitely more up to your standards, more educated, but who will NEVER reach your level. Because that's the crux of it. And stop spitting your ideas in my face, which, like crap, always float back to the surface! With respect, always. Matt7

you continue to be rude and impolite..thank goodness I respect you!..so much for education and freedom of speech..what you say is gospel!
you know what? go STUDY MUSIC BEFORE SHOOTING YOUR EVANGELIZATIONS ON MUSIC. I'm tired of being called ignorant by someone who understands less than anyone and thinks he's the champion of debaser just because he made a record against the DTs! I've always respected you, easy..you've never done the same!

I don't make a distinction. I consider prog a genre that is still very much detached from rock. That's all. And it's not out of ignorance but due to my particular perspective.
