Portnoy is a very original artist. Just don't focus on the DT and listen to Osi, Transatlantic, etc.. he has an enormous stylistic versatility.

Horrendous mess? It blends perfectly with the piece. The whole track is constructed in a challenging way, and you couldn't put a melodic solo in the middle of it. Then... you do it... anyway... go read the review of easycure on Metropolis Pt. 1. But also read all the comments.

There’s a reason: people struggle to accept another musical genre and they criticize it: if something doesn’t move me, it’s terrible, so they focus on the flaws. To me, their technique is moving... evidently, many people stop at the surface, but they don’t go deep enough to uncover the true gems.
