Not much, these know more about hallucinogenic fumes (semi-catatonic trance states, greatly caused by the very subtle, almost imperceptible filtered voice, like music listened to underwater, a lot of American psychedelia from the 60s..) the MGMT of a dadaist asylum, more English, as if it were Kubrick from A Clockwork Orange meets Syd Barrett. PS. What the hell did I just write? ;-). Forgive me, Psycho...

Very, in my opinion, crazier and more imaginative. Being more pop is an advantage, not a limitation.

Personally, I prefer the latest MGMT.

Hi Psycho, I've listened to the album more than once. It didn't grab me much, though, despite the Fridmann sound. I'll give it another try. PS. I agree with Kosmo, especially lately there's a need for your eye-opening writings..

Of course, if the reviews that are (re)published in this space are NOT chosen by a stochastic/automated S/W system, I must say that at least one member of the debaser staff still cares about me a lot (despite my very sporadic presence). Whoever that is (or whoever they are), know that I return the affection with a 500% interest... I love You.

Based on the first listens, it's a well-structured classy pop, very much in the British style, all quite “challenging” (not to say a bit boring). The groups mentioned (including XTC and FL) are something else. Album of the year seems a bit too much to me, unless there is a lack of competitors (as for psychedelic pop, for me the latest MGMT already fits that bill).
