Palle Yourgrau A World Without Time. The Forgotten Legacy of Gödel and Einstein

A small inaccuracy, Godel obtained American citizenship in 1948. Clearly, by then Nazism was already dead and buried.

It seems that when K. Gödel (who, aside from time machines, also devised incompleteness theorems) decided to take American citizenship, he was actually helped and advised by his friend Albert, who made him the victim of incessant teasing (Kurt was said to be a very serious person, while Albert was a true prankster). Gödel prepared himself by studying meticulously the entire American Constitution and its legislation. In particular, he managed to find a loophole that seemed to allow anyone to establish, solely through democratic means, a dictatorial regime. However, Albert advised him not to bring this up during the interview with the agency responsible for granting citizenship. At the time of the interview, however, the examiner asked him where he came from. "From Austria," Kurt replied. "From Austria? We Americans are happy to be born and live in this country and not in a country like yours. Here, what is happening there with Nazism could never happen." "That’s not certain," Gödel replied, "and I can prove it to you..." Congratulations on having the courage to review something like this.

Time passes and my daughter, who once enthusiastically followed me in my strange musical tastes (just like my deb friends used to follow all my quirks back then), is becoming increasingly orthodox. She listens to Avril Lavigne, Hannah Montana, Katy Perry, and at most, she gets as far as the RHCP. Everything else doesn’t interest her (including the Flaming Lips and similar bands that used to "excite" her, and anyone who has read some of my deb things knows what I'm referring to). What a shame. Lucky you, psycho, that your daughter still pays attention to you.

I occasionally try to make myself like it; I even tried with gutalax. But I just can’t do it.

I suspect that if we’re discussing the cover, the album, despite a thin layer of snobbish modesty that doesn't allow us to say it, hasn’t been liked all that much (and not because it’s not surprising...). But do you remember the cover of Bone Machine? That one was beautiful?

Well, if he were to come out with a nice album of piano ballads in the style of Small Change, complete with an orchestra, it would be truly surprising, after all these years. Something similar to what was done in Real Gone for the guitars. And who cares if the piano isn't as drunk anymore.

The usual great grandpa Tom, who is now so (almost) consistently great, brilliant, and surprising that he has (almost) nothing left to say ...

But this is clearly a fake, the one I faced back then was clearly a person, moreover very knowledgeable and intelligent, who truly believed in it.

Sometimes Jurix goes too far in lightening the mood; he could turn even a discussion about the performance of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony conducted by the composer himself, or a debate on the meaning of life convened directly by God, into a joke... But in this case, the comment is entirely justified. PS. Be careful, Jurix; in the past, I came very close to being lynched and chosen as a sacrificial victim for a black mass for a levity similar to yours!!
